… especially when it comes to weddings.
The outfits get brighter, the flowers smell fresher, the destinations are more exotic & that glow, that summer glow is unbeatable. Having shot more than a 100 summer weddings, it’d be a total disservice to not share my findings on what makes for a blockbuster celebration in the summer.

Arrivals are your one window to make a banging first impression. At #NashGetsMashed at the Sheraton, Hua Hin, all guests were welcomed in an area full of ‘instagrammable’ opportunities – think folk dancers dressed in tropical hues, lots of garlands & a quirky installation with the dhol playing in the background.
In case you prefer to welcome your guests al fresco, chic straw hats are a nice touch to shield them & yourself from the extra high temps & UV rays. They also work great as party favors!
Once the basics are taken care of, take the party poolside . From monogrammed floats to innovative cocktails from the bar, help your attendees make the best of the scorching summer heat.
For a youngsters bash, trendy upstages traditional all the way. Photo booths with plenty of playful props replace the puja thalis and everything from the décor to the music to the attendees is staged for a memorable marital send-off.
The Mehendi is when you truly let your hair down. Personalized designs & getting the couples’ wedding hashtag henna-ed on the body is super trendy right now. Don’t forget to throw in colorful props for your guests to pose with.
If you have a destination wedding to plan, definitely keep your masseuse on speed dial. Let them work their magic on tired guests in between functions so they could recharge those cells before celebrating with you again.
More & more wedding planners are waking up to the potential of content creation with every accessory that’s present. Give concise instructions to your planners to include bits that are important to you. These hand-painted tyres had a funny story behind them & not only did they make the décor quirky, but they also made for a conversation starter.
The ceremony backdrop is the focal point of your big day but keep the décor minimal for maximum impact. You want all eyes on you & your beau – not an over the top chandelier or gaudy floral installation.
One last thing – take full advantage of those sandy beaches & golden hour light. Don’t forget to sneak out with your photographer to capture striking shots for your memory wall.
